Globalisation and its counter-flow, that is localisation, have put mezzo-level and hence regionalism to the forefront. The article examines how effective regionalism is regarding strategic development. Its main consequence is that on a social range from the individual to the global the mezzo-level seems to be the most effective in terms of the relationship between the future shaping power as well as the adaptation to fidure challenges. Region hence may be a highly advantageous field of strategic development.
